How Much Does a Website Cost in Kenya in 2026? Real Price Ranges

Ask five web developers in Kenya what a website costs and you'll get five different answers, most of them vague. Here's what actually drives the price, with real fixed ranges instead of a "starting from" figure that grows the moment you ask a follow-up question.

The honest answer to "how much does a website cost" is: it depends on what the website has to do. A five-page brochure site for a consultancy and a booking-enabled e-commerce store with inventory management are both "a website," but they're not remotely the same build. The problem in the Kenyan market isn't that prices vary. It's that most quotes don't tell you why they vary, which makes it impossible to compare one developer's price against another's.

We publish our pricing openly for exactly this reason. Below are the real, current ranges for the three project types we build most often, broken down by scale.

Website pricing by scale

ScaleTypical priceDelivery windowWhat's different
StartupKES 95,0002–4 weeksUp to 10 pages, contact form, SEO foundation, SSL
BusinessKES 180,0004–7 weeksUnlimited pages, custom UI, blog/CMS, analytics
CorporateKES 355,0008–12 weeksEnterprise design, CMS integration, priority support

These aren't discounted "from" prices designed to get you on a call before the real number appears. They're the actual price for the scope listed, the number you'd see if you configured the same project on our site right now.

What actually moves the price

Once you understand the real cost drivers, you can sanity-check any quote you're given, from us or anyone else:

  • Page count and content complexity. A static 5-page site is fundamentally less work than a CMS-driven site where you'll be adding pages yourself for years.
  • Custom design vs. template adaptation. Fully custom UI work, not a theme with your logo dropped in, costs more because every screen is designed and built from scratch.
  • Payment integration. Adding M-Pesa and card payments (via a processor like Paystack) is real integration work: webhooks, reconciliation, receipts, and testing against a live payment gateway.
  • Admin dashboards and multi-user access. The moment a site needs a login-protected area, even a simple one. You've added a second application behind the public-facing one.
  • Third-party integrations. Connecting to a CRM, an SMS gateway, or an existing internal system all add real engineering time that a template can't shortcut.

A useful gut-check: if a quote is suspiciously low compared to the ranges above for a comparable scope, ask what's been left out. Frequently it's the delivery window itself, a low number with no committed date attached isn't really a price, it's an opening bid.

E-commerce and custom systems cost more, for real reasons

An online store starts around KES 120,000 for a startup-scale catalogue with M-Pesa and card checkout, rising to KES 450,000 at corporate scale with multi-currency support and CRM integration, because a store isn't just pages, it's an inventory and payment system with a website in front of it.

Custom business systems (school management, HR, inventory, CRM, booking platforms) run from KES 160,000 to KES 650,000 depending on scope, since these are bespoke applications built to your exact workflow rather than a website template with different words on it. If you're evaluating a system rather than a marketing site, our Systems Development page has scoped pricing by system type.

Ahmed Rezk Sultan, Director, Burj Alkhaleej Recruitment: "They committed to a timeline at the start and held to every milestone. Professional, responsive, and technically excellent."

What a real quote should include

Regardless of who you work with, a legitimate quote should specify: exact page or feature count, number of revision rounds, what's excluded (and what those exclusions cost if added later), the delivery window in writing, and the payment schedule tied to milestones rather than one lump sum upfront. If any of those five things is missing, ask for it before you pay anything, a business that has actually scoped your project can answer immediately.
